Under the stars

Category:

They are always above us, lighting up the night sky, but…
Have you ever stopped to really look up at the stars?

Discover the wonders of the night sky from one of the best locations for astronomy. Prepare yourself to spend a magic night observing celestial bodies from deep space, the visible planets and the moon, through a powerful amateur telescope.

A Starlight guide who is qualified in astronomy will accompany you on this fascinating journey across the universe, helping you to recognise the Pole Star and the main constellations visible in the vast dome of the night sky above.

And as the finishing touch, a little something: you can take home a little piece of Andalusian heaven! At the end of our observations, we will immortalise this moment with our camera, giving you a lovely reminder of your experience with us as a parting gift. This activity is open to everyone, whether you have prior knowledge of astronomy or not.

There’s no doubt that Andalusia is one of Spain’s most attractive destinations for a getaway, with its rich cultural heritage and accessible countryside, full of vibrant scenery and impressive biodiversity; a wide range of attractions at great value for money. And, of course, the climate: one that’s perfect for astronomy, with a large proportion of clear nights each year. This makes Andalusia an excellent place to practice astronomy, to which we can add another advantage: our low latitude. In Spain only the Canary Islands surpass us, but within continental Europe, Andalusia is the place in which you can see the most sky.

Did you know that many of the celestial bodies visible from Andalusia can be seen from almost no other part of Europe? For example, Canopus, the second brightest star after Sirius, is only visible in the south of the provinces of Cádiz, Málaga and Almería, where it rises a little way above the southern horizon. Andalusia therefore has great potential as a destination for astronomy-lovers, adding another feature to its already wide range of tourist attractions.

Here are some of the experiences we offer:

Observation on the high seas For an unpolluted sky, head to the high seas, where the possibilities for viewing stars multiply. Have you ever looked up at the stars, surrounded by the silence and solitude of the ocean? It’s an experience you won’t forget, we guarantee.

A G-Astronomic dinner. How are gastronomy and astronomy related? Discover the answer by trying the dishes from this Stellar Menu, which brings together creativity, extraordinary flavours and unique sensations in a G-Astronomic journey through our universe.

Wine and the Moon. Would you like to learn about the Moon’s mysteries and the influence our satellite has on the excellent quality of the wines of Málaga province? An astronomer and an expert in viniculture will share their knowledge with you.

A stroll under the stars, astronomical observations All in the company of a guide and with the ideal equipment for these activities.
